Major Gyan Bahadur Gurung
Chairman and Chief Financial Officer

He joined the British Army as a boy soldier at the age of 13 in 1955 to follow his father’s footsteps in the British Army; he had fought in the 1st World War. He served in 6th Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles for 32 years, culminating in the appointment of Gurkha Major of 6th Gurkhas, the senior Gurkha position in the Regiment. After retirement, he was employed by British Gurkhas Nepal, for two years as an Area Welfare Officer in Pokhara, and for three years as the Brigade’s Re-employment Officer in Kathmandu. This was a new post established for the first time to find work for ex-soldiers, and he established the office and procedures which remain in place to this day, and which have found thousands of ex-soldiers work. In 1997, he was a founder member of British Gurkha Overseas Services (Private) Ltd, and as Chairman from its initiation, has formed the Company and grown it to the success it is today. He is proprietor of the Hotel Gurkha Haven in Pokhara, and is Chairman of 6th Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles Nepal Association. He is a champion golfer with many cups to his credit.
 
Ram Prasad Gurung
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Born in Dehra Dun, India, he joined the Brigade of Gurkhas in 1971 and served in 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles. He retired in 1990 and established his own business in Nepal producing pashmina shawls. He joined British Gurkha Overseas Services (Private) Ltd in 1998 as the Operations Director, and was appointed Managing Director in 2004.
 
Kulprasad Gurung
Public Relations Director

After acquiring a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 and Bachelor of Education and a Masters degree in Economics in 1975, he was selected by the British Brigade of Gurkhas Education Board to serve as Deputy Headmaster in the Gurkha High School in Hong Kong. He served in this position for twenty years, and during this time was awarded Best National Teachers Award by the Department of Education, Nepal. He joined British Gurkha Overseas Services (Private) Ltd in 1998 as the Public Relations Director and is in charge of candidate processing and liaising with governmental departments and foreign ministries. He is a Director of the Einstein Academy in Kathmandu.
 
Major Ganga Bahadur Gurung
Recruiting Director

Born in Singapore, he joined the British Army in 1965 and joined 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles in 1968. He retired in 1998 having reached the position of the senior Gurkha officer (Gurkha Major) in the British recruiting and welfare depot in Pokhara, Nepal. After retirement, he joined the Gurkha Welfare Scheme in Nepal as an Area Welfare Officer. He joined British Gurkha Overseas Services (Private) Ltd in 1998 as the Recruitment Director. He enjoys golf and is a member of the Ex-Brigade of Gurkhas Society in Nepal.
 
Lieutenant Man Bahadur Bura Magar
Training Director

He joined the British Army in 1974, serving in 6th Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles, and retired as a Lieutenant in 1997. He joined the Company in 1998 as the Training Director. He is also the Managing Director of the newly formed Gurkha Multiskills (Private) Ltd, the training academy affiliated to British Gurkha Overseas Services (Private) Ltd. Throughout his army career he was an advocate of effective education for the children of Gurkhas and the Nepalese community, and after retirement he founded, and became the Chairman of, the Gorkha International Public Higher Secondary School in Dang, Nepal.
 
Ganesh Kumar Thapa
Manager, Operations

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Economics and Political Science from North Bengal University in 1988, he worked as a Teacher in India. He joined British Gurkha Overseas (Private) Ltd in 1999 as General Clerk and was later promoted to Manager, Operations in 2005. He liaises with shipping clients and deals with the movement and welfare of crew members employed.
 
Lydia Giannakopoulou

The certified English instructor for Gurkha Multiskills (Private) Ltd. She has a Certificate in Teacher Training from the British Council, Athens, Greece, a Cambridge/RSA Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults, an Advanced Diploma in Education and a Masters of Arts in Education, both of which were obtained from The Open University of UK. She has 19 years of working experience teaching English to adults at beginners', advanced and intermediate levels and has worked in various countries such as Nepal, Thailand, Germany and Greece. She is multilingual and speaks and writes fluent German, Tibetan and Nepali. She also speaks French, Italian, and Thai.
